About

Hi, I’m Dauphine Sb. I’ve taken this pseudonym more or less because I’m trans*; specifically, bi-gender, and I’m not out fully to the world. But it has a certain weird grandeur to it that, although presumptious, seems to suit this project.

I live in the Midwest U.S. I’m a parent. I write–poetry, besides this blog, and many other bits of things. My post that details a blueprint of sorts is the hope for what I’m trying to do with this blog.

The name of the blog comes from botany: “a whorl is an arrangement of sepals, petals, leaves, stipules or branches that radiate from a single point and surround or wrap around the stem.” When they fuse, they help protect the inner parts of the flower (with the calyx and corrolla, it’s called the perianth). There is a lot to love there.

I am always in flux, and I’m been accruing hodgepodges. Here is a place to set some of them down, and also try to honor that flux as much as possible.

I hope to meet many people walking on similar paths. Please feel free to email me at whentheworldsfuse@gmail.com. Thanks for reading.
